Montenegro’s pristine rivers are the ultimate adventure playground, perfect for anyone who wants to experience the thrill of white-water paddling in total safety! Based on the Sitnica, Cijevna and Morača rivers, all within a few miles of the capital, Podgorica, this weekend paddling break is ideal for anyone wanting to have a go at one of the newest and fastest-growing sports out there – packrafting! These ultra-portable, super-stable kayaks mean we can access wild, undiscovered rivers other suppliers cannot reach! These trips are suitable for complete beginners; families, groups of friends, couples and solo travellers. A reasonable level of physical fitness and adventurous spirit is required! Click here to read more about our activity levels.

Equipment: We supply all boats (Kokopelli inflatable packrafts), full wetsuits and safety equipment, as well as a variety of tents and sleep mats. Sleeping bags are not included, please bring your own!

Gigo is one of Montenegro’s most experienced & talented kayakers. When not organising the annual Kayakfest on the Tara River, he takes guests paddling where no other have paddled before! Gigo is a fully qualified ECU guide and speaks fluent English + Montenegrin/Serbian.

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrival
15:00 – collection from Podgorica and transfer to basecamp (20 minute drive). Here we will get an introduction to the equipment and an exploratory paddle on the calm Sitnica river to get acquainted with each other and our packrafts. Group barbecue at basecamp. Overnight camp.

Day 2 – Cijevna river
10:00 – The Cijevna river begins in Albania and winds its way through the heart of Montenegro’s ancient plains of Zeta – we will transfer from basecamp (about 45 minutes) and then begin our first white-water tour right near the Albanian border. The route lasts about 10km with a mixture of rapids and gentle “lazy river” sections where we will practice our paddling techniques, learn about entering and exiting eddies (calm sections of the river out of the main current) and then try out our new skills on a succession of more exciting bits! Full safety instructions are provided, with a camp breakfast before and lunch in Podgorica after the paddling is done. Group dinner and drinks at basecamp. Overnight camp.

Day 3 – Morača river
09:00 – The Morača river begins in the foothills of northern Montenegro and then plunges down south through the country in a beautiful, wide canyon, eventually flowing through the capital and into Lake Skadar. This gorgeous 15km stretch will provide another chance to practice your skills on a gloriously clean section of white-water river, with some easy bits mixed in if you need a rest! Camp breakfast beforehand, lunch after the paddling is done. The weekend concludes after a final beer together!

We use Kokopelli packrafts for this trip. They are super tough, super light (only 2kgs!) and super stable – but you have to prepare to get wet! We provide full wetsuits, buoyancy aids and a five-star safety briefing.

Prices are in £ Sterling per person and include all rafting trips with professional instruction and guiding, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 evening meals, as well as all equipment and transport.

Our camp is situated in the village of Komani, just north west of Podgorica. It is ideally situated next to the Sitnica river and within 45 minutes drive of our other two launch points. There is running water and a toilet on site as well as a dedicated barbaecue area.
