Dear friends and guests

Given the uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, we want to re-assure you that by booking with us you have the maximum peace of mind, so we are currently offering the following payment options, which supercede our standard Terms & Conditions. These terms will apply until 30th June and may be extended upon review.

Our holidays are designed to take you away from the crowds, to remote wild places far from the traditional tourist traps. As they involve outdoor activities and water sports, we always remind guests to take out travel insurance at the time of booking – preferably a policy with a CFAR (cancel for any reason) clause. You may be able to reclaim certain losses from your insurance company, so please do check!

FLEXIBILITY:
We will offer complete flexibility on existing and new bookings. You will be able to postpone or reschedule your booking to any date starting Sunday within a 24 month period of your original booking, without extra charge. Please only note that the end cost of your holiday may change if you move from low-high season or vice-versa.

Existing bookings: The balance for your holiday is usually due no later than 6 weeks prior to your arrival. For 2020 arrivals we shall now relax this to 2 weeks prior to your arrival. If you reschedule your holiday for 2021, your balance would be due 6 weeks prior to your revised arrival date as normal.

New bookings: We have altered our payment terms for new bookings taken between 1st March and 30th June 2020. For this period we will ask for a 30% deposit on booking with the balance due no later than 2 weeks prior to your arrival (our usual terms are 6 weeks). If you reschedule your trip thereafter, your balance would be due 8 weeks prior to your arrival date.

IF YOU CANCEL:
If after paying the balance due for a 2020 holiday you opt to cancel your booking entirely up to one week prior to your arrival, we will refund new bookings 80% of their total payment, and existing bookings 70% of your total payment. (only 10% in our standard Terms & Conditions).

If after paying the balance due you opt to cancel your booking entirely less than one week prior to your arrival, we will refund all bookings 50% of your total payment.

Note: If only some members of your party opt not to travel, these cancellation charges still apply on a per person basis and we will recalculate the holiday cost for the remaining travellers.

IF YOUR HOLIDAY CANNOT TAKE PLACE:
As a British registered travel company, if we are forced to cancel your trip (for example, in the event of the Foreign Office advising against travel at the time of your holiday), we are bound by UK law and regulations, which states currently that a refund of your deposit should be made within 2 weeks in the event that your holiday cannot take place. However, as an aid to travel companies, all of whom are struggling with this unprecedented situation, the European Commission, ABTA and ATOL are advising all customers to accept credit notes instead of deposit returns, to use on a new booking in the following 24 months (see our flexible terms, above), with refunds for such credit notes applicable any time in the next 12 months.

This is obviously a terribly difficult time for everyone and the travel industry in particular. As a small, family-owned business, we have been successfully running sustainable, low impact holidays in Montenegro for over a decade and some of our partners will feel the effects of a fallow season even more than we will. We own our activity base, ‘Villa Miela’ outright and employ only ourselves, so our operations are just on pause while we all come together to protect lives. Even so, facing no income for a portion or even all of this year’s season will be challenging for our family and our guides. We know we can ride this storm. So far, 93% of our guests have rescheduled their 2020 holidays with us to 2021, an overwhelming show of support, so if you can, please help us to continue the idea of responsible tourism in Montenegro by postponing rather than cancelling! Thank you!

Now, it’s quite possible for some of you that by the time you are due to travel, any restrictions in place now may have been lifted. It is, however, probably wise for all of you to consider your options carefully. If you have any questions at all about your booking, or if you would prefer to make your decision now, please let us know. We’re anticipating quite a few emails in the next few weeks, so please don’t worry if you don’t get an instant reply. We will respond to you as quickly as we can, and look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful part of the world as soon as it’s safe to travel.
